Mother f*ckers!! I call one store, not in stock, they hang up.
I call second store. "No, we dont have any, let me look at some more stores for you" (after i gave them the SKU)
"Yes, the times square store has four in stock, hers the #..."

"Yes, we have four of these in stock." I ask to put them on hold. I get there. Like 5 on the shelves. I come to register.
$120-something. Exact same SKU and everything. "We're out of those clearance items" while its the same damn one. Well that was a waste of two hours. (Train ride)

Btw: 1st post, yeah! :p

If anyone wants one near Hurst, Texas (Ft. Worth), let me know.

You can come pick one up for $30.

I got 3; e-bay for one, use one, and will sell the other for $30 for anyone wanting to pick it up.

Let me know.

Don't know what the deal is with the Times Square OD and the hard time that they gave KlineD. I got
mine and paid for it yesterday (650 VA model APC) and picked it up today. I saw another one sitting there with a sign on it stating "hold for Andy". It was the 500 VA job.

BTW I didn't even bother to see if they had any more left today. Yesterday they didn't. Perhaps KlineD you should have had them double check the price for you. Read my prior post to see what initially happened to me.

If you SAW a sign that said "hold for Andy", you should have SAID you were Andy and pay by cash. I would have done it that way. There are many ways of manipulating people you know...and plus...OD peeps wouldn't know or care anyways. What are they going to say? Let me see some ID to confirm you're THE Andy? No way.

My local OD was out of the brick model 500VA, but they did have the "power strip" like 500VA (last years model, no USB). I think it is the ES series. Definitely not as smoking a deal as the one first mentioned, but it will be great for a surge/UPS for the TV and VCR.

APC UPS, UPC 073130401885 - $20.99

Picked one up for $22.49 plus tax at the Boise Idaho (Franklin) store this afternoon. There were two still on the shelves after I picked up mine!

Anyway it was a 650 KVA unit with the SKU number above written on it.

So are these the 650 or the 500 ones??

I found twenty (20) or so in and around Houston.

This is quite a deal. My entire office is power safe... :)

Will other OD's that have them still (I know of one that has it at $69) PM one of these receipts from the guys that scored the $22 area price?

I dont think so the $69 is a diff upc and sku number... you would have better luck getting some other store to match, but my reciept just says apc backup so I cant match it anywhere. Did anyone get one with the model number on it?

The first store I went to had a cool manager, he was willing to look up other stores in the Northwest Chicagoland area for me. The only two around were at Arlington Heights...sitting on top of a rack in an unrelated isle...and they are mine now. ;) I always love the looks on people's faces when they ring things like this up.

Thanks for the heads up!

All the quotes below are from the SAME poster on this thread. You can find his messages for yourself easily enough. I quote these numbers to alert other traders.

The last quote is from an email sent to me in response to his offer to sell these units for $30 each.

You will note the asking price increases with each quote.

At this rate, his asking price will be over $1000 within a week !

WELL ****, if you live in the greater Bay Area, I can help score you one. I'll charge you the same price $22.49...provided that you pay tax too.

I'll part with some 500VA for $30 for anyone in the East Bay. I'm in San Leandro..where are YOU?

I have a lot of these. How many do you need? It will be $35 each with delivery. Cash only.

I have no problem w/ someone charging a mark-up. I do have a problem w/ someone offering an item for one price and then raising the price. Repeatedly.

If you need one in the SF Bay Area, don't buy from this punk. The SF Office Depot on Harrison still has 10 of these. I was there yesterday.

$35 is a good price anyways. The traffic, handling, gas and other drivers I gotta deal with makes up for it. Even if you drive you SF, you will have to deal with the same thing WITH the $2 toll you have pay.
