damn, why are on demand and pay-per-view movies so expensive?

These are normal movies, not porn or sports events.

I have dish network and wanted to watch Soldiers of Fortune the other day. I have a code for 1 free pay-per-view movie and it wouldn't let me use it because there's a different between on demand and pay-per-view.

Anyway, they wanted $7.99 to watch it! WTF?

A movie rental from places like blockbuster doesn't even cost that much, right?

Checking out other movies and they want anywhere from $4.99 to $7.99 per movie. The HD versions cost like a dollar more too.

Such a rip-off imo.

I'll wait for netflix to get it in and i'll use my code on something else.

Netflix actually wanted to make a new premium plan that would offer the same content at the same time as dvd releases hit the street, it would have also contained lots of studios but the problem they ran into is not the ability to price it where people could afford it, cost was estimated 29-$39 a month, the studios wouldn't sign the deal because of the outcry from cable and satellite.

Basically why they charge $7.99 is because some idiots out there are willing to pay it.
Amazon on demand is the best place for new releases I have found, 2.99-3.99

If you have any questions or concerns about our service, feel free to provide me with some feedback as that's always appreciated! We're always looking to improve and I'll enjoy the opportunity to speak with you!

That's the reason why Netflix and Redbox are so popular.

I'd like to provide some information as I came across your post! Have you had a chance to take a look at the movie premium packages we have to offer? Our Starz, Showtime, and Cinemax packages are each only $13 per month, which equates to 43 cents per day that you're paying to watch commercial-less movies if you have any of them. HBO is at $18 per month, which is only 60 cents per day. I hope that helps and please let me know if you have any questions!

If only there was some way to watch a movie without paying so much :hmm:

I see Dish is trying hard to keep customers happy these days....

Yeah, all the responses are a bit much.
The best way to keep customers?
It's not magic - keep them happy enough to stay.
The phrase "too little too late" applies.
Don't screw me with "promotional" terms and conditions and other tactics companies use to lure in customers then wonder why I don't want to stick around.
If I can't get your services to work correctly, after a while I don't care what you promise to do for me - I'll find services somewhere else.

Either because people are lazy or the companies are out of touch with prices thus they toss up random numbers but a bit of both I would say.
