On car amps, the power on (remote on) lead is just a 12v input, correct?

i live in NJ where everything is expensive.

sounds like 2 different lights...power on will generally mean everything is ok...remote on would mean that your deck is sending the remote signal

side not: power light shouldnt come on unless your amp has ground too

I'm just talking about the turn-on lead on the amp (the one you connect to your amp power-on lead from your HU).

Is this just a 12v output from your HU to the amp?

I'm trying to test an amp, but I don't want to pull out my HU just to do it...

so just run a wire from your + to the remote spot and ground it...hook up a test speaker and you are set

Yeah, it's a 12 v signal from the HU. In ancient days, it was a relay. Some people simply splice any other power wire that's activated when the car's on and install a flip-switch. If you only need to test it, you could probably run a wire from the 12v + / power wire connection to the remote connection.
