on board video vs video card

Does it make any difference if the on board video for a motherboard is ATI but you add a Nvidia card. For example, for this Gigabyte motherboard at Newegg (Item#:N82E16813128373) you add this video card, also from Newegg (Item#:N82E16814130339). Does it help at all to stay with Radeon for the video card?
Thanks!

Sometimes you can leverage the onboard video to do fancy stuff like Hybrid Crossfire/SLI or something like that, where the integrated video tosses its share of oomph to the graphics if you use a same branded GPU (ATI/ATI or NVIDIA/NVIDIA).

No, conflicting brands on chipset/gpu have no effect on performance. As zap said, if you get matching manufacturers you can do hybrid SLI if you're on nvidia, also you can use the IGP for physx work while your video card does the major rendering. If you get matching ATI I think theres also some sort of hybrid crossfire. These options are rarely used though, so I don't think it'd be worth the effort to specifically get matching manufacturers
