on board sound vs sound card and headphones

Hi guys,
I've got an Asus mobo with onboard sound and I've got a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 OEM PCI Sound card.

Which one is best to use and will using the sound card increase my frame rate?

Also I've got a standard pair of headphones with a microphone I use for gaming. I was thinking of buying a pair of Sennheiser PC 161 Pro Gaming Binaural. Will it be worth it with such a basic sound card/on board sound? Will I need an x-fi sound card to get the full benefit of the headphones?

Any idea if it is worth getting the Sennheiser PC 161 Pro headphones or is the onboard sound not good enough?
