For a while ive have a DFI Ultra Infinity II and a pair of speakers from logitech that was originally 6.1 but now is just 2.0 speakers because the sub blew out...anyway I have used that for a long time on diffrent motherboards and now on this one...the other day i tidy'ed up my computer and then when i plugged it back in I had no sound, so i tried updating the driver and my audio device is now saying "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" So i uninstalled the device and reinstalled it and it is said it recognized the device but it may have a problem...I am using the on-board sound and I am just wondering why my speakers or the audio device isn't working , hopefully there is a way to fix this, my xbox already fried this weak, now I hope its not the on-board audio of my motherboard.

Assuming something isn't loose and nothing is broken, have you tried simply doing a system restore?

Start --> run --> msconfig --> Launch system restore. Pick a date that worked.

Overclocking has done that to me before. The onboard audio couldn't take much of an overclock at all.

Onboard audio is certainly the bane of all music enthusiasts, but I've never heard of it just plum failing, out of the blue. Usually it still works, but just not very well.

What you have is probably a software/settings problem, not a hardware failure. Keep at it, and I'll bet you'll get it to work, again.

no luck with the system restore, same problem. I got play any audio file, and it says it is playing but absolutely no sound what so ever, not even a buzz from the speakers when i turn them all the way up.

When I go to Device Manager and choose my audio codec and update my driver it gives me the error "This Device will not start" (Code 10) and there is a little yellow exclamation point next to the audio codec. When this happens an audio file wont even play, just nothing happens. I hope I can fix this because i didnt know how much I needed sound on my computer until I lost it :)

I might just end up buying a cheapo pear of 2.1 speakers and a cheapo sound card.

Are you sure it's all plugged in?...

Otherwise, have you played with the BIOS lately? Maybe you disabled it in there...

Also, check that you don't have the master volume turned down too low.

I can see that the power surges messed with your ability to use English properly. Maybe your onboard sound going is a good thing, you can pick up a decent dedicated audio card now.
