Obviously different for each car and your driving habits, but in general for a small sedan, how many miles will it last?

I have 20 on mine now. Expect 30k. Then get some carbon metalic that will last ya 40k. Who really cares? pads are like $40 bucks anyway :p

I got 71,000 on my Honda Civic, a friend went through 3 sets on his Mazda Protoge in the same time period. Cars are virtually identical in size and weight, are the same model year and we both did about the same mix of city/highway. My original tires went 65,000 miles, his crapped out at around 25,000. In other words, it depends on how good the parts were in the first place. A good pad will last 2 to 3 times longers than a cheapo pad under the same conditions.

If I had to guess, I'd say he drives far more aggressively than you do. If you brake gently most of the time, your brakes will last a lot longer, and warped rotors fill be a rarity.

I have 82k miles on my '97 Integra GSR and haven't changed them yet... I guess it totally depends on driving style... I found that having a stickshift might play in a bit too... I have a friend with a '97 Accord automatic and he got his front brakepads replaced at 25k... another got his replaced around 60k... then again, I have a friend with a '99 BMW M3 and he got his replaced at 18k :p My dad on the other hand didn't replace the rear pads on his '85 Benz until about 120k miles or so, or so he says. Judging from his driving style, it's believable :p

I normally get 40k plus for the front, 90k or so for the rear. Yes, I drive just like your Grandma :)

i currently have 41000 on mine without a problem, other than one pad is coming loose on the right rear caliper. I'll be replacing them on sat just for the heck of it.

I dont ride my brakes. I have mastered the art of not braking unless I ABSOLUTELY MUST. I can drive in stop and go traffic without using my brakes. :)

I do not understand why people rush to red lights. The only time i do is if i notice some asshole who wants to cut me off to get ahead in the line.
