at home i have DSL and a working file/print share. time to time i take my work laptop home (which runs Win2K Pro). my home network consists of a Win98, a WinME, and a WinXP. i can get the laptop to access my internet connection, but i want access to my printer and files. i don't want to install any programs on this computer because, it belongs to my work. also i want to have it removable. (its a wired network)

If its part of a domain you wont be able to join the same workgroup as your home pcs, with out causing you not to be able to log on at work. Hmm, it late and I cant think of anything right now.

when its off the work network it doesn't log into any domain (it probably logs onto its self) i've gotten it to to work before, it just doesn't now

Is the printer a network printer or is it shared off one of the computers?

To let it access a share on another computer they'd either need to be in the same workgroup, or you could access the others directly by IP address if you setup an account on each one matching the account that is used to login to the laptop. Then it should let it right through.

What exactly doesn't work and what errors do you get when you try?

it's shared from the XP desktop, (the ME and 98 sees it but cannot use it becuase its only compatable with XP and 2000.) they're in the same workgroup 'MSHOME' but the windows shows an empty workgroup
