"On AC Power" icon won't go away

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3. When I turn on the computer, the "On AC Power" icon is in the taskbar. I go to Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced > and uncheck "Always show icon in the taskbar". The icon disappears. Then, after restarting, the icon is back, and the box is checked again!

I used to use on APC UPS, but not anymore. Could there be some setting that needs to be modified?

Also, I recently changed the settings for what to do when the power button is pressed (also in Advanced Power Options). I changed them to "do nothing" because my son kept pressing them. I can't remember when this problem started, but I believe it was soon after changing those settings.

I fixed it. I went into the Power Options > Advanced and changed the setting for the power button and reset button to "Ask me what to do".

Windows is so weird sometimes.
