The trouble is in defining honesty.

Do you ALWAYS tell the truth or would you tell a white lie to spare someone's feelings?

Would you keep $5 you found or turn it in?

If you were caught speeding and a cop asked if you knew how fast you were going, would you tell the truth?

Would you admit having done drugs in the past to a potential employer?

Have you ever called in sick at work when you weren't?

There are a lot of technically dishonest things we do in daily life just to get by. I don't believe anyone can be always honest and survive in our society, but neither do I condone the kind of dishonesty that harms society. Where we draw that line between harmful and non-harmful dishonesty is were each person's moral compass must come into play.

EDIT: Damn parody thread! Ya got me hook, line and sinker!

I'm nearly never honest. I'm just so incredibly superior to all other humans it would just be depressing to them if I was honest all the time.

I am quite honest. Often times when it seems like the thing to avoid the most trouble would be to lie, I will still tell the truth. It's gotten me in trouble before.

I have no problem lying though if it's a stupid issue or something trivial like do I care about seeing a certain movie. Sometimes it's easier to say "sure" even if you don't mean it.

Lying is one of my two things I hate in life (the other is stealing). I don't lie, but I don't always say what's on my mind either, so I'm less than 10.

I'm not very honest, especially on these forums but orders of magnitude more honest than alk... so I'd say 2.

Sometimes I don't tell the whole truth, but I won't typically tell a lie to spare someones feelings. However, I might say "great effort" as opposed to "great job" if they tried hard but didn't do well at the task at hand.

Would you keep $5 you found or turn it in?

I'll ask around if I find some money on the ground, and hand if over if someone says it's their's. I won't track down a police officer for $5.00 though. If I found $10k I would.

If you were caught speeding and a cop asked if you knew how fast you were going, would you tell the truth?

Yes. I've been pulled over twice and told my speed accurately both times.

Would you admit having done drugs in the past to a potential employer?

Yes, I've done so.

Have you ever called in sick at work when you weren't?

No. But then again you aren't allowed to call in sick at my work unless you physically aren't able to make it, and then someone comes and checks in on you.

There are a lot of technically dishonest things we do in daily life just to get by. I don't believe anyone can be always honest and survive in our society, but neither do I condone the kind of dishonesty that harms society. I guess I'd be a 9/10. Some small lies aren't a big deal, like slightly embellishing a story. Sometimes sparing someones feelings is a bad thing though, in the end.
