on a fan w/thermal sensor, what happens if you dont plug the sensor in?

If you have a fan with a thermal sensor thing...what happens if you dont plug it in?

And beyond that, WHERE do you plug the sensor in anyway?
 
those fans usually have 3 wires, and are meant to be plugged onto the motherboard, hence the fan headers.

if you don't make use of the sensor, you have a regular fan.
 
Unmonitored it begins spinning madly round and round like a whirling dervish until it breaks free and shreds everything in sight. Best to keep the little tykes monitored, a nanny or even ritalin works. Oh, were you talking about fans? Um, never mind.
