I saw this map of states soon to allow gay marriages because of what appeared to be a slam-dunk in the Supreme Court. Then my mind went to the hate that has been directed at gays for millennia in light of the obvious hatred for the United States right now in some quarters. Shari'ah law proclaims it a sin and a punishable crime against God.

So I Googled "Isis, gay" and what first came up was a controversy about religiously prohibited Muslim imagery that a gay group in Israel was displaying. The hate grows.

I saw a statistic recently that an average of ~75 Saudis are publicly beheaded by the state each year. I wondered what the crimes were. Although beheading isn't specifically mentioned, being gay there is punishable by death. This is our economic and strategic ally. We are hugely dependent on them. Should gay rights here affect our relationship with Saudi Arabia? I guess not; we can't take China (our banker and manufacturer) to task over democratic rights.

To me it's easy to see fear in this hatred because clearly some kids will have these feelings, but if the fear of death is put in you you probably will "see the light" and choose life - a straight life. They may be fearful of the feelings in the first place, and later fear the death that would come if they admitted to them. Fear leads to hate.

The Islamic world (including the groups and governments filled with this murderous rage - from fear) is watching the advances of the gays here. It seems like the more we step to the left, the more many of them lean a lot to the right. And just like most humans they are territorial. I'm not saying we should change our behavior but the cycle seems like it will be never ending.

There appears to be no solution except war (and peace for the allies).

Edit: added ...an average of ~75 Saudis are publicly beheaded...

The US and other countries have had to make strange bedfellows in order to get what they need or want, in that respect I don't see the gay marriage issue as all that different.

But ISIS, or Boko Haran or whoever using SSM as more reason to hate the US (the West)?, I call BS. IMO, those groups and others are simply using SSM to get support from other groups and people who may have been "on the fence". Had SSM not been an issue, it would've been our "g-dless" TV and movie content, or video games or frog-raping or yada-yada-yada.

SSM should not be considered to be an issue of Left or Right.

If some religious people want to make a bigger issue of it than what is needed, it is their option.

this is a religious/bigot issue, not a political issue.

The definition of a political conservative includes that tradition should be maintained. I think that makes it a political issue, just look at TH.

Shame ignorance, not stupidity.

Ignorance can be fixed, stupidity is forever.

That's why stupidity should be shamed;)

I don't fault someone for being ignorant but once they are told the facts and they choose to be stupid, they should be shamed.
