And, as long as someone is answering the question for floppy cables, can I do the same thing for my IDE cables, too? :)

CUTTING THEM OFF WONT BE A PROBLEM SO LONG AS U ENSURE THAT NONE OF THE ENDS ARE SHORTED.. BUT WOULD BE EASIER TO UNPLUG DONT YA THINK

what i would do: buy an extra clble and try it out, in therory it SHOULD work, let us know if it does, i'm getting really sick of that extra connector hanging around ;)

Edit: Ificudiwud, the point of this is so that you dont have as much cable clutter, and next time try not to post in all caps

You just need the twist between the 1st and 2nd device plugs. You can cut off the mobo plug and use the former middle plug in the mobo. I do it all the time :)

edit: or like Iluvdeal said, you can pop off the middle connector if my method leaves you short

I've done it the way JCIV describes, keeping the twists between the board and drive. I suspect that the other way will work, too, if the bios has the ability to swap floppy drives. Easy enough to find out....

I've done IDE cables, too, but always cut off the end drive plug. Not sure if that makes any difference.... Just cut 'em with something very sharp, like a razor blade on a cutting board.
