Omnibook500 AND HP CD Writer

Hey guys i bought a hp omnibook 500 ,it doesnt have any internal parts(cd rom/floppy) and i need to install OS,person i bought it from wiped it clean.I have an external CDRW from HP as well...Its CD WRITER MUSIC(4X4X24) and its USB...Is there a way to install windows trough that cdrw or ??Notebook doesnt have serial ports ,just two usb.....Is there way to load drivers for usb cdrom within startup disk...It doesnt matter which os...As long as i install one...ANYONE PLEASE?

That would be a tricky one. Does your BIOS support boot up from USB device? I know some notebook are capable of that because they lack built in CDROM / Floppy thus require bootup from external USB devices.

If so you can probably try booting into a w2k/xp CD?

Yeah it seems like it does..But for some reason it wont boot again...shit..I better sell this crap and buy some real notebook.

What you mean it won't boot "again" have you ever gotten it boot once? I am not sure about booting from USB CDROMs. But I have a notebook just like yours without any forms of built in floppy / CDROMs. I can get it to boot from the USB floppy drive maybe it's not "designed" to boot from USB CDROMs?

The manual for mine says that you have to put the recovery floppy in to boot up in order to run the recovery CD to recover the machine but then again the manual is written for a PCMCIA CDROM.

Any chance of taking out the HDD and formatting / copying the entire installation CD to it?

but where can i fit HDD into??i dont have any more laptops,and i dont know if notebok drive fits normal IDE cable..

There are dongles and brackets that enables you to mount / use laptop HDDs on a normal desktop with IDE connections. Should cost only a few bucks US.
