I work in a health care facility so they offer free flu shots. I have never had one I always opted out in the past but I decided hey why not it's free. I go the shot yesterday afternoon, now my arm is killing me and I have a big welt where the shot was. The spot where they gave me the shot also is all red and very warm to the touch, it has a big welt that sticks out about 1/8 of an inch and it's about 2 inches around.

What do I do??

Don't listen to him. You did the right thing. Go see ATOT and see if you have any reactions to your post.

In other news, I got my shot for the first time last year and had no problems. Is it infected? You did shower and go in with a clean arm right? And they did swab it with alcohol right? And they did let the alcohol dry a little before giving you the shot right?

Just kiddin on that last one. Although a shot I got recently they did that but I don't know why. It isn't that much alcohol and no one ever waited for it to dry before and I never had any problems. Well maybe a patient had some reactin to the alcohol so they started doing that. i'll ask next time.

Oh I almost forgot: Can I have your stuff if you dfafs?

PS. Just kiddin. Feel better.

I have never had a flu shot, and I have never had the flu, coincidence? I think not!

After watching House M.D. on disc I can confidently state it is either termites, leprosy or a brain tumor.

The year before last I got a pneumonia shot and a flu shot.
The flu shot left a monkeybubble that hurt for two months.
A few months later I got pneumonia and damn near died.
Needless to say, voluntary shots are no longer on my list.

Well as a fellow health care worker who just had the shot, yes your arm will hurt like hell for about 2 days, and mine left a mark for a day that went away. Are you allergic to eggs and/or mercury based compounds??

Either way monitor it for other signs of allergic reaction, hives, itching etc, otherwise it *should* go away in a day or two.

3rd option is that your body is fighting the virus because some people react to it and can actually contract a mild version of the flu.

Also another possibility is that whoever injected it either hit a vein/artery or a nerve and it's causing imflammation...otherwise monitor for any other allergic reactions and PM me if you have any other questions
