Who are they kidding ?

Specifically, Intel points to AMD's "playing it safe ... with anemic investment in manufacturing capacity, leaving Intel to shoulder the burden of investment to enhance the usefulness of computers and enhance the market." In addition, Intel claims AMD has been "dogged" by a reputation of being unreliable as a supplier, has traditionally lagged in innovation, and has seen products delayed well beyond original launch dates.

Let's see:

1. Hypertransport
2. On chip Memory Controller
3. Cool and Quiet
4. Enhanced Virus Protection
5. AMD64
6. dual core CPU { That doesn't run hotter then the sun }

I'm starting to see through Intels BS....

I love AMD, but I will say Intel has helped them get to where they are by pointing them in the right direction.

Same as car makers....one leads, another follows and then becomes the new leader.

I don't think we are going to see AMD enterprise deployed anytime soon though...Intel is the smart business choice.

I do think if Linux makes a market hold, business may consider non-Intel at that time.

yes

and yet the Athlon 64 x2 is clearly better then the Pentium D. AMD doesn't have much of a ad budget.

They do have a reputation of being an unreliable supplier. That is no lie.

and they said they have "traditionally" lagged in innovation, recently they have broken free of that image though.

And some products did get delayed, AMD64 actually missed its release a couple times i believe.

Whosawhy? Opteron servers have already taken off and are doing very well. The only reason AMD hasn't taken off in the business desktop realm is that Dell doesn't use them. And Dell was one of the major forces that pushed AMD into filing suit against Intel (because Dell hit a pricing floor with Intel-based tech, and they can break that floor by using AMD platforms) Give it time.

2. Only new for desktops, not new in general.
4. WTF? Trend has worked on enahnced virus protection, CA has worked on enhanced virus protection...what has AMD done for virus protection?
5. That was clever publicity (but thanks to them getting MS to buy in, it worked :))
6. Only new for desktops.
