i don't always think everything she does works, but at least she really pushes the boundaries. i have a lot of appreciation for how far she is willing to push the limits of production, acoustic space, and melodic structure (or lack thereof). even "what you waiting for" had one of the most interesting melodies of that year, because she was constantly changing keys. changing keys in a pop song? that's unheard of. it's also awesome. so gwen can yodel all she wants, because at least it's not more of that motherfcking "we ride, we ride" or beyonce bullsh!t.
i would also venture to say that regardless of whether or not you like her current music, she is now closer to a real artist than she has ever been, including No Doubt, which didn't bring much to the table other than a hot chick doing pushups.
