Yes but you can still get the most recent version if you poke around for it.

Proxomitron is the best popup blocker ever, plus it deletes stupid ads. I suspect there may be enough third party support with filter development that it should still be good for a while. Once it no longer works, I think maybe I will quit the Internet.

My poor Proxomitron! I'm going to have to find an installer file for when I eventually reformat! One of the best webfilters out there.

It's still available at proxomitron.info - most recently updated in June.

I am going to e-mail them and offer to host their site (and possibly the .exe and .zip files).

That way they don't have to use GeoCities.

Honestly, I've never used a pop-up blocker - maybe I'll try Proximitron :)

<---Goes off to install the program

make sure you enable it and add it to your proxy settings in your browser as the instructions walk you through... -- you'd have to get to a pretty hardcore popup to defeat the proxomitron.

Isn't the new google toolbar pretty good at the pop-up blocking?? I had to uninstall proxmitron b/c my brother made me...so I've been relying on my google toolbar ever since.

I'm thinking the same thing. Google works great for me!

I hope that Google toolbar isn't just something that automatically closes a popup... With Proximitron, the popup code is filtered out and the popup never happens in the first place.

Any program that just closes popups is less than a program that completely filters them out.

word. Proxomitron acts as a local proxy server and scans all incoming HTML for ads and popups and edits the code before it gets to your browser, meaning that the popup never even has a chance to get to you. Proxomitron owns google.
