My story begins over the summer when I started building my own system. I bought a 6800 ultra off ebay (or i thought it was) for $355, which was a good price at the time. But when i received it it was clocked at 325/1100 and i was stunned. After browsing around i finally figured out my card was an evga 6800 LE/ultra http://www.evga.com/products/pdf/N347.pdf however mine came with 16pipes and 6vp stock. It basically is an ultra with a crippled bios. It wouldnt even overclocked 345/1100 without artifacting so i flashed it like many others to an ultra or GT bios. However i was not so lucky in the process and would not flash stable no matter what. I flashed around probably 20 times before i finally gave up. Then today i was messing around benchmarking at 325/1100 and got 4500 in 3dmark05. Then just for fun i upped my core speed up to 360 and guess what no artifacting what so ever!!!!!! So slowly to 400 and it ran perfect!! Im now running it at 400/1140 with the crippled stock bios 78.01 drivers. The reason this is so amazing is because all owners of this card couldnt achieve over 360 max on the core. Now guess what my score is 5437!!!!! Im basically the only person in the world with this high of a score with a 6800. (because thats what the card is labeled in 3dmark and in settings a Geforce 6800 not ultra not GT. I just thought ide share this with you guys :)

You are far from the person that got the highest score with a 6800. Did YOU put it on liquid nitrogen and voltmod it? I know somebody out there did, probably. :D

Congrats man.

one thing you'd learned so far is never buy high end stuff at ebay, especially w/ a crippled bios

I wouldn't try to overclock it over 400Mhz, since it was unstable before. But that's just me.
Congrats man!
Crescent, he said it's the highest 6800 score, not 6800 U.

Well his description of the card didnt include clock speeds but he did have pics. However he ripped off the Limited Edition sticker off parts of the box to expose ultra in his pics. And took it with a crappy camera. I was fooled by the looks because it had the same pcb as the ultra. And i kept it only cuz when i found out it could be flashed to GTU bios by this guy named thugsrook http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7215 most people after flashing scored over 6000!!! But i was not so lucky, now i am tho!!! Im still kinda confused how this happend my theory is that i flashed it so many times it allowed me to OC if further some how......Oh and my card is stable just got off 3 hour bf2 gaming session.

So does that meen he never claimed it was a true 6800 Ultra? I get the feeling the seller was careful never to claim anything that would constitute fraud, and you thought you migh be scoring a cheap ultra from someone who didn't know what he was selling. Maybe I am reading too much into it though....

I have this very same card. Got it a year ago for $325 from Newegg when true 6800Ultra's were going for $580+, flashed it to the Thug's 1.4v Ultra bios and have been running 400/1100 non-stop ever since.

Don't know why you are suddenly having good luck with overclocking, But there were several vers of the bios made up. The GT bios although lower clocked has faster mem timmings which clock for clock is faster then the Ultra bios, some cards with the GT bios could not reach Ultra clocks because of the fast timmings would cause problems.

Which bios did you flash?

I tried all the bioses LE-GT, LE-Ultra, and GTU i had no luck with any of them. So then i just left it stock and someone its stock bios let me overclock to 420/1140. I think u helped me in the process of flashing to GTU i think.

And yes the description of the card was Evga 6800 ultra LE which basically is what the card is. Except it is known as a 6800.
