For the past 3 years i have been using headphones on my computer; however, I decided to get 5.1 speakers. Looked at newegg and saw the great approval rating for the Logitech 5.1 speakers--then i saw the price $65 total.

They came today and i decided to play a movie that screams for 5.1. Well that took all of 2 seconds, i grabbed the matrix. And wow this system has some power, had the volume at 25% on speakers (from the center speaker), 20% on subwoffer, and my sound output from my computer at 25%. I felt like i was at a theater. Plus the subwoffer is like having foot massage while i watch the movie :).

Can't wait till i try this with CS :D, but i have two papers that i need to write (NBP--Natural Born Procrastinator) :(.

lol the 640 is having such an impact on you? Imagine what he would say to the Klipsch 5.1 or the 680s. I love my 560s :)

I've got a set of Z-560s and I just ordered a Lite-On DVD-ROM drive from Newegg for $27. I can't wait to watch movies in 4.1 sound with my Santa Cruz. :)

I've listened to these speakers, along with the Logitech Z340s. Neither sounded all that impressive to me, and I have a measly 2.1 set at home.

The Logitech Z560s or Z680s on the other hand ($150-300 I guess?) ... should be quite impressive. However if they're anything like the 340 and 640 sets... the sound is rather flat too bassy/not adjustable enough compared to Altec Lansing speakers.

They do sound pretty good though, and they are not bad at all for the price. Glad you like your speakers. :p

I suggest you stay away from any decent speaker shop for fear of severe heart palpitations.

Mmmm.....680s. I LOVE mine. I can't turn them anywhere near halfway up or I'll shake the hell outta the place. Dolby, DTS decoding = <3

what can you say im as happy as a retard in a room full of bouncy balls, but when you go from headphones to 5.1 speakers its a huge jump

Also forgot to add that im pretty much tone deaf (i cant tell the difference between 128 and 192 mp3--sometimes i cant even tell the difference between 192 and 96 mp3s). So to me a $300 system would sound just like my $65 setup.

If you're into music, Monsoon Planar Media 14s are even better than the klipsch and are about half the price. Though you'd better have high quality (192kbs+) mp3s or the accuracy of these speakers will make those distortions exponentially more audible.

No, Apac is right. If you don't need 5.1 at your computer Id get the PMs.

I know I'm right ;). Just had a guy from down the hall walk into my room and comment on how great the treble sounds.

So where do you put the rears? I never understood 5.1 for the computer. Do you have speaker stands right behind the computer chair? You have to weave in between them everytime you sit down to get on the computer?

Square rooms are really bad for acoustics. :)

i thought at first you made a typo & you just got the 680s. 680s are around $200 now, less than 3 times the cost, yet 10 times better.

I've got the all these:

340
640

560
680

and I like the 560's the best. Better sound and better control.
