OMG!!! SNIPER!!!

That sniper needs to be found then drawn & quartered.

I don't understand what is with these people shooting up New Orleans right now. The only thing they are doing is hampering their own rescue.

Wow.

Edit: For the love of all that is holy, can you PLEASE edit the OP to include the words 'Sniper', 'New Orleans', 'Hurricane', 'Looters'?

For example - 'Sniper attacks following the wake of looters in New Orleans after being struck by hurricane Katrina'.

Thanks.

As far as I can tell, they DONT want to be rescued. They have free reign over most of a city, there is no law and no one to stop them.

But the city is not really functional. Doesn't make sense. Even if you could loot all you want, and go stay up in a house. You have no power, plumbing, anything!

That's exactly the problem. Some news reports I've seen said the there's many buses waiting outside New Orleans, but they won't go in for fear of the rioting that would happen due to desperation to get on a bus and "get the fvck out of dodge".

So in the mean time people in the city will become more desperate, continue to die, and become more angry, making it an even worse situation for when authority does arrive.

I also don't think that they are looking that far ahead.

I'm beginning to think we should just build the levees higher, put barbed wire & guards around it, and abandon New Orleans in place. There's nothing left there worth saving :| I know thjat's overly cynical - I'm sure there are alot of good people simply trapped in a bad situation, and we just hear about the worst of it. But the worst is pretty bad.

It makes you realize how close to anarchy we really are though. Despite all our pretenses, humans are not inherently civilized. We are externally civilized by the institutions we've built up for that purpose, but strip those away and we're right back down there with the animals in less then 3 days.
