My wife has this problem. Any time she uses bandaids or any bandages with adhesive she gets a nice rash in the exact shape of the bandage for a good week.

You might be able to find info online about it. The exact composition of the glue may be hard to track down due to trade secret though.

This. Latex allergy is becoming more and more common....and severe. It's why a lot of doctors, medics, hospitals, surgery centers, etc... have switched over to latex free materials. My wife has terribly severe reactions if it gets exposed in to her bloodstream (i.e. gloves on wound). We keep our own box of nitrile gloves if needed.

My sister is allergice to the adhesive. She just had surgery and they sued some adhesive strips to help keep the incision closed. She bled for days and was in a lot of pain, things didn't improve until they removed the adhesive.

What's funny is that she told them she was allergice to the adhesive that is on medical tape, but somehow no one thought of how the adhesive strips were more or less the same thing.

I get the same thing. I just learned to take off the bandaid soon as I leave a doctors office. It is always very funny looking with the red skin in the exact shape of a bandaid.

Are these plastic? I also usually get some kind of rash thing with plastic bandages.

My preference is for fabric bandages. They usually stick better, are more flexible, and they allow the skin to breathe at least a little bit.

I thought the glue had latex components, but if they're advertising as latex free, I don't know. I wonder if it could be as simple as the glue having some of the same chemicals as latex, but not all of them. It would be latex free, but could still cause issues through the same mechanism.

I'm guessing it's a latex allergy. This is very, very common. it can even develop with exposure.

Never really had that issue. But then I usually just use duct tape or electricians tape as that's typically the nearest thing to me when I incur an injury that would require a band aid.

I dunno. If I'm the risk management executive at Johnson & Johnson (or whoever) and I'm told that our 'latex free' marketed band-aids still have enough latex-like chemicals to cause allergic reactions in the same people....I'm gonna put the kibosh on that product until it's sorted out. Band-aids are way too commonly used to put up with that kind of risk due to formula similarities (or they're morons who love being sued and being bitch smacked by the the FDA and FTC).
