I was getting gawd awful pings for like 3 months they insisted it wasnt a problem and i called them EVERY DAY before they finally fixed it, but when they fixed it they told me

"We are upgrading your area's service so we can meet your needs better" i said so your fixing the problem? they responded with "there never was a problem we are simply upgrading your areas service."

what a load of crap!

hehe i just got earthlink dsl, like midway thru my dialup month. so i essentially got 2 free weeks or whatever (they were advertising a free month anyway). so it sucks, BAD. like 100k down at best. i email and complain and do some tests and then on the day before my billing cycle comes up and my dsl payment goes through i start hitting 600k down. coincidence? yeah i'm guessing no, but that's just me.

I wholeheartedly second, third and fourth Maleficus' comment. The last week of June/first week of July, my RR was down 90% of the time. When it was up, my speeds were below dialup. Ping times were in the 2000ms+ range and packet loss hovered between 5 and 20%!:|

I called everyday to report the problem and got "we have no reports of outages in your area." I said "well now you do, so do something!" Repeat that last sentence about 100 times (accounting for, of course, the 30 minutes+ I had to wait on hold each time I called to actually speak with a human being, and you'll have some semblance of an idea of what I went thru.

In the end, I had to take screenies of my Packet Loss Report from DSLReports and email them to their Tier III people. What crap. Finally, they got it fixed about two weeks ago.

It works OK now. Just OK. DL speeds are great, however I cannot run a packet loss test on DSLReports anymore...the test just does not run. Can't do a security scan either. I changed nothing in my router's setup.

My IP is pingable, so I have no idea what's going on. :(

I had SWBell DSL. $50/mo for 1.5down/128up....used to average about 140kb/s...not bad and it NEVER went down. Never. Well, honestly, in two years it was down three times for about a day each time. Big whoop, huh? The reasons I switched were: a) speed b) price vs. performance (RR is $10/mo less with higher DL and UL)

RR is great, WHEN IT IS ACTUALLY UP AND WORKING CORRECTLY, which, so far, has been about 40% of the time. I am still undecided as to whether or not I made the right decision.

If SWBell offered a higher package for maybe another $10-$15/mo I would have stayed with them. But I am already 20K feet from the CO. I had the best I could get.
