I was thinking about it for my next build but now since they announced the September price cuts I may just go with a E4300 and wait till September when the Q6600 will even be cheaper. Quadcores arent a neccesity yet as far as games go.

Why buy one?
Think of it this way:
If you didn't buy a CPU as soon as it becames available, the manufacturer would think that there is no interest. Then to sell them they would lower the price even further.
I don't know about you, but I work hard for my money.

I thought I was going to be able to complete my build early. I'm eagerly awaiting 7/22. The q6600 will be a nice step up from my athlon64 3000+, don't you think?![]()

My main rig still has one, nice chip in it's day, still ok for everyday tasks. But I got an A64 4000+, and now a C2D E4400. I'm debating on whether to keep that for another 3 years, or to invest richly in a quad-core. Realistically, I doubt software will even be able to take true advantage of a quad yet, unless you like to DVDShrink four movies at once.Originally posted by: mrfatboy
