Okay... so me and a few friends heard all the rumors running around... you know.. the Third Roar Theory and such.. linky

so we were kinda trippin out one night ;) and so i have the album, and went on kazaa to dl Wizard of Oz...

lo and behold.. kazaa has a "Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Rainbow" DivX, with the tracks already put on from the album.. so we watched.. and omfg it really did sync up! Almost EVERY major scene change came with a sudden change in the music.. so I left it on my computer and a few times later while messed up we tripped out over this again.

well.. i just watched it while not messed up yesterday.. thinking i was too paranoid before.. but no.. it synced up even better than before! The scene when the tornado is coming - pink floyd's album has an airport announcer during WW2 announcing the arrival of the germans (or something like that.. i can't exactly tell, but it's WW2 based i'm pretty sure). Also, during the scene when the scarecrow is up on the pike.. he falls down on the grass with the corn stalks around him.. then gets onto the road.. and this is the lyric that accompanies that scene:

"The lunatic is on the grass.
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path."

WTF? well anyways.. just seeing if this has been discussed before.. or if anybody would like to say any other syncs that they know :)

if you haven't checked it out - go DL the synced up version!

maybe it's just me but wouldn't it be more "scientific" to play the CD and the movie seperately, rather than chance that the DL'd "synced" version would have been maybe slightly altered?

there's like... 5.. 6 MAJOR syncs to the album/movie... beyond that there's a few small ones.. like sometimes the munchkins dance to the beat, and the people talk to the beat. I imagine you guys'll be up late :)

All I have is the record and a horrible old vhs copy so it would probably not be much better.

true.. but i've listened to the album like.. hundreds of times.. and trust me, the one synced on is the same one (even if it is "slightly" altered.. it would be like 1 second off.. which would still sorta be synced.. because of the differing theories)

I downloaded that very file just a few months ago... The beginning is kinda slow, but a LOT of it is super trippy.

the beginning is pretty cool - when the producer's name comes on the music starts.. and when dorothy falls the 2nd song starts

Judging by the theories I've read, it's doubtful that Pink Floyd truly intended to match The Wizard of Oz with their best-selling album. Suggestion seems to play a big role in the experience. (Psychologist Carl Jung coined the term "synchronicity" to describe unrelated events that somehow seem linked.) And since Pink Floyd denies doing anything intentional, one is left to speculate if album "syncs" are just the work of the little man behind the curtain...

An interesting side note: One should then explore other odd matches of Pink Floyd albums with various movies. Examples include the movie Contact with the album Echoes, Blade Runner with Wish You Were Here, and Fantasia with Meddle.

Unfortunately for some, Blade Runner was done 7 years after Wish You Were Here.

I also agree too...but my cousin has the album and he said he got wasted using E and saw the movie w/ the album....it syncs
