i wouldnt call it a "monstrosity". the concept is awesome, the execution is okay, the design is...horrible.

i would have gone with a more squared off house, with more floor space, and a second level.

(but that's just me. i guess to them, since it's a cabin, not having proper sleeping space is okay? 0.o)

Tornado area so a single level is the way to go.🙂

proof that being rich is not overrated.

It does look like they're doing a lot of the work themselves over time, so yeah, they've got cash, but apparently not enough to hire it all out and get it done in a few months. I respect them and the project more because it takes their own blood, sweat and tears.

I've been following this, but simply because I want to see it finished. The end product is not going to be near as impressive as I was expecting.

After all that lake work I figured the house would have been better. It is nothing special, just unique in the fact he is by himself. I'd rather have a nicer home. To each their own

There is a guy not far from me that made his own pond. Took him about 20 years but now it is finished and also stocked with fish. He charges people to fish there now 🙂

Where do you live that he got permits for this? My vineyard-owner friends in CA have a tiny little watering pond that the government is threatening to make them fill in. Trying to put in even the smallest change to water storage in CA brings out the environmentalists, government and corporate bigwigs alike. 🙁

Very impressive, just not my thing I guess.

Would rather have a friend that owns that and visit him every year.

North Carolina
No permits were obtained.
It is all private land in areas that normally have no connection to any existing water so I guess the state sees nothing wrong with it. These areas would normally be just fields.

I guess it is a benefit of living in a rural area.

Here is another one about 20 miles from the one I posted before

Yes!! Thank you for bumping this. I was just thinking about this thread and couldn't seem to find it via search.

Well it's near completion. It doesn't really look like a home though, looks rather uncomfortable.

How does it look uncomfortable? I mean, the house isn't even done and it's a freaking dream dude. Simply amazing that they're doing it all by hand - it's something that will stay in their family for generations.

ROFL, that seems similar to searching for my car after I've forgotten where I parked it 😀

I did that once.
Man, that shit SUCKS.

especially when you realize after an hour that someone took your car home for ya.
