A collection of pus is called an abscess, not a cyst. Once formed, the cyst will remain in the tissue permanently unless removed by surgery or by taking medication that will dissolve it.

uh.... no.
canker sores are on the inside. cold sores are on the outside, generally right on the fringe of your lip and regular skin.
and as others mentioned, it is teh herp. But not the STD herpes, well... it can be an STD, but it's a simpler version of the herpes virus, herpes simplex iirc. shingles is also a herpes virus, and chicken pox is in the herpes family. herpes simplex is the, heh, simplest of them and cold sores I think are the only thing they cause, versus a body-wide display of infection.
