OMG, now Microsoft wants to sell us an AV program to combat their security prone OS :-)

well all these years youve been giving norton money for their virus software that combats the viruses they create which do you consider a wrost rapage?

oo oo wait, "Nash said that Microsoft said that it would sell its anti-virus program as a separate product from Windows, rather than including it in Windows."

Looks like you might be writing more than one cheque FoBoT...

I'd rather stay with Symantec TBH

Norton Anti-Virus is such a resource hog... I really hope MS comes up with something that doesn't slow your system so much.

Wow... so Microsoft offers its own AV program. What's wrong with that? They just want to branch out into a new industry they find potential profit in just like any other company would.

...and let me guess, you're running NAV2004 on a P2 400 with 128meg ram?

I run it on an Athlon 64 3200+ w/2GB of PC3200 and I have no complaints 😀😛

close....P2-450Mhz with 256mb ram.

resource hog for me.
I'm running an AthlonXP 3200+ with 1GB DDR400...
It seeks my hard drives VERY often, and I use two 160GB Maxtors

But still the point is more competition will make the product better for the consumer in general.

Norton AV line is not bad but their corporation edition line is light-year better, tho.

I had always used norton AV and then I tried downloaded a corporate edition to see what the praise about. It was way better in resources usage and the simple interface.

After that, I don't use norton AV until they get their 2004 consumer line to the corporatoin level three year ago.

In case you didn't notice my sig...

3000MHz Rig

And yes NAV2004 is a resource hog. Have you ever tried to do anything HD intensive with it running? Performance is rediculous.

His point was that if you ordered everything from one company, you'd write ONE check.

if NAV actually stopped any of the viruses and spyware that hits computers these days, I might feel bad for them.

like I said in the thread yesterday, I'll buy the MS version and give it a shot. It can't be worse than McAfee.

I've never had a problem with NAV Auto Protect slowing me down, and I have my computer set to run a daily scan at 7:00AM in the morning when I'm not using it (still in bed).

But even if I am up that early and I use the computer while NAV scan is running, it doesn't slow me down one bit. I can run my TV tuner, surf and do whatever and my PC doesn't skip a beat. Than again, I do have a 74GB Raptor.

LMAO! Yeah, like Microsoft is really capable of doing that!

I'm running on a laptop with an 8mb cache 7200 drive and don't have a problem either, and on my desktop w/diamMax 9 8mb 7200 it runs fine 😕
