Usually perfectly good electronics that I might want get rained on before I notice them. Oh boy, a "free" TV thats full of water. Excuse me while I cream my jeans.

Why? People throw perfectly good sh|t out all the time these days. Is it better off rotting in a landfill or being used by some one else?

I think you misunderstand me.

The reason i say wish people still looked at it as bad is so i can get it. right now you have to go early or there is NOTHING good to get.

around here there is some great stuff. I live (well lived) in a collge town. man at the end of the school year there is some darn good stuff. Nearly new TV's and radio's etc.

Ah. I think I understand you now. :) A friend of mine used to work security at a local college so he got first crack at the stuff that got dumped at the end of the year. Picked up a few perfectly good things.

As an individual who recently found a way to gimp his 20 year old zenith TV set even further (coxial connection finally shat the bed, so I'm using the VCRs tuner piped through the RCA jacks now) I think of dumpster diving as a valid way to save money. You gotta save where you can I say.

I got a lot of $$ that way when I was in college. At the end of every quarter I'd head out and gather up a bunch of good stuff people were throwing away - small fridges, electronics, all sorts of stuff. I'd clean 'em up, and sell 'em to students at the start of the next quarter. It was easy money for me in my broke college days.

Simple, you fire the baggage handlers who you pay $10/hr. and hire a company who will do it for $8/hr.

These are all good tips. I could save $10,000.00 if I just moved to a cheaper apartment. And if I didn't shop for grocery while I was hungry, I wouldn't have 5 bags of Chips and Pork Rinds that I will never eat.

"
Also among the tips: No. 48: Move to a less expensive place to live; and No. 59: Never grocery shop hungry."

Yeah, they might find a DC-10! Then they can open their own airline, put their former bosses out of work, and tell THEM to dumpster dive :)

How come it seems that everyone whines about being "insensitive"? Are people really that frail nowadays, that you can break their back and shatter their reason for living with the slightest of words? As if it's YOUR problem that they're hypersensitive little pansies?

Last time some delicate flower told me that I was insensitive, I told him that he was right and as he could imagine, I didn't care.

Haha. I like that suggestion. It should have been followed with "trade your car in for a pickup truck, to facilitate #46"

Actually yes, I think it's tacky to suggest that employees go dumpster diving to save money. Especially given the standards corporations hold their employees to when it comes to customer service (they must be politically correct and have a "positive attitude.") If you like sifting through garbage more power to you, but it's another thing entirely for a company to suggest it to their employees.

If you believe it's okay that a company tells it's employees to go dumpster diving, you are a fool.
