The new Texas plate is similar, except instead of a smiling sun, we have a sunburnt redneck with a can of beer in one hand and a shotgun in the other.

According to local news, that plate was the result of a 2 year design process. 2 years!

Also, they're are a number of alternate plate styles KY residents will be able to choose from....for $50. Makes you wonder if the state government isn't using this as a way to get citizens to cough up an extra $50.

I presume altering a license plate by, say, painting over the smiley face, is illegal?

My dad was one of the advertising execs who had a hand in designing the old blue and white one with the foal and mare running.

I also remember the state having to spend some bucks for reflective tape to cover the Churchill spires because some folks complained that it endorsed gambling.

but yeah, it looks like something from the tele-tubbies. what a disgrace. and the slogan, "It's that friendly." geez, how sad is that?

I think some Teletubbies romping in the green clouds/mountains/whatever across the bottom of the plate would really round out the design...
