$129 is impossibly cheap if coverage was not subsidized at all. Maybe you were still subsidized in January but no longer so in February?

Are you saying you can get coverage in the individual market for $149? That also seems impossibly cheap to me.

Yup my prems would be around $146.
but I'm single, and only 24 years old.

Does this cover hospitalization/drugs?? What's the coinsurance level/deductible levels?? Something doesn't seem right. You might want to review the plan provisions again.

As a general rule of thumb you always get much better rates in group insurance over individual insurance.

Anthem KeyCare Preferred

Which is 100 times better what new employer is offering.

I was paying for insurance on my own for about $100/month after leaving school. It was a pretty good plan. I had to go to the emergency room for stitches and it saved me a lot of money.

I think that maybe it depends on the state you live in?

Good point. I did not take that into account.

I thought COBRA was for when for when you lose your job (ie., no longer subidized). I always hear it is very expensive.

From my (admittedly limited) experience, it is. When I lost my previous job, the COBRA option was $400+ a month. The prescriptions I take amounted to less than half of that, so needless to say, I didn't take the COBRA.
