thing is - I'm speaking out of my ass. I don't know what IE supports that other browsers don't. I don't know what the site uses. I don't know whether it's only compatible with IE - it might even support with mozilla for all I know. but my point is - you're throwing phrases like if you're really smart. but do you actually run a company and take decisions as to what browser to support and which not? even if you do - what's wrong in designing for 95% of users out there (perhaps IE has less but it a pretty big percentage)? I'm not trying to speak for someone, but I hate when I see people who think they know everything.
btw - perhaps what your friends wrote was a java app, which is a completely different thing. what features did it have?
