The damn thing is fine every once in a while, and other times it is simply a pain in my ass. It takes a ton of strength to push it and for the push to register and double clicks are a nightmare. How can i change this sumbitch out? Its driving me NUTS!

If you do a search, you'll find out that you essentially have to disassemble the entire iPhone to get at the Home button. If it is not under warranty, I would suggest having Apple do the repair for you.

HOLY F, FR YOU ARE THE MAN, mine has been sticking for 2-3 months after dropping it 8 times. I was gonna finally shell out the money to fix it, now its FVING sweet, I use to have to press 4-5 times to exit and app, after calibration, i dont... ill have to test it some more..

I think mine is probably loose from the drop but it seems that temperature plays a role in mine, early morning, it doesn't work well, ill know by tomorrow am.. so far its a lot faster than before !

I'm having this same problem on my iPad 2, and have been doing this sort of fix. The real issue that I haven't seen addressed anywhere is how to stop it from happening in the first place. After fixing, mine will work perfectly for a few minutes and then stop completely again until the fix is repeated. Pretty sure its a software issue.

What works for me is sticking in the cord into the bottom of the phone and pushing up on it from underneath, essentially pushing the board up to the home button. If you're in a pinch, you can even stick a credit card in and underneath.

I found this tip somewhere while Googling a fix. The calibration tip in this thread didn't work for me. Apparently, it's a known hardware issue/weakness.

Yeah the above recalibration fix does nothing for me. So i just put something in the little charging port and push it up? Weird.

Yeah, works for me. Have to re-do it every now and then. You might even hear a click. The contacts or something on the button and board get loose. I figured I had nothing to lose since the thing hardly worked. Wasn't gentle at all. New phone hopefully in the next month or so.

Dude, thank you! That worked! It must've been happening inadvertently sometimes because occasionally it works for a while. Thanks again!
