OK so far my stay in D.C. is going pretty good...my 5 hour job interview yesterday rocked (case studies and FIVE essays were tiring though) and the Sting concert was fun. I was staying with my sister in Fairfax last night, and today I went into the city to see some art, tour the city and stay at my cousin's place.

My cousin's apartment is AWESOME! He's on 7th and E, right next to the Shakespeare Theater and some tapas restaurant. He's got a doorman, an open air courtyard with lush vegetation, indoor pool & hot tub, sauna/steamroom, locker rooms straight out of a country club, gym with free weights, Nautilus, treadmills, and MAID SERVICE every Friday that even does the dishes!!! Its also got wireless Internet which I'm using right now.

The best part is, he doesn't even have to pay the $2000+/month rent...HIS COMPANY PAYS FOR IT!!! Its a corporate-owned apartment building since he's here for less than a year. Crazy. I'm so jealous. Especially since I'll be paying at least $1200/month just to live in Fairfax or McLean in a normal apartment if I get a job here.

---------- Xiety says -----------

I wouldn't wanna live at downtown D.C.

Crime rate is freaking too high, infact, highest in the nation. Another thing is, your car (if you have one) will hate you for living in downtown D.C.

---------- Cheers :) ----------

He's a policy wank. Currently working for a large oil company formulating Middle Eastern policy (i.e. how do we get that oil in Iraq?)

Looks like your cousin is on intern?

Many people who received intern jobs got free boards. (More like Co-Op program, if y'all know.)

I didn't like DC, too cold, too crowded

I love San Diego, more laid back, less crowded :)

Hmmm, need to look at companies in Bethesda. From what I know, isn't it mostly defense (naval) contractors, security consulting firms and software shops?

Actually, Detroit has the highest crime rate of any city in the U.S.

However, DC did hold the title of "Murder Capitol of the World" at one time.

Lots of biotech companies in Montgomery Co. of Maryland - which is only about 15 minutes from Bethesday. Look into some of the companies along the I-270 corridor.
