heh i remember when it 1st came out i thought it was great and i would never get sick of it,
1 month later totally sick of it..still kinda sick of it..
but its a classic song
Whatever. Go ahead and jump on the bandwagon if you want to, but you can't deny that their earlier stuff kicks some ass, and had a major influence on the metal scene.
It doesen't matter what they're doing now, you can't ever take the old stuff away.
Some of their early stuff is decent, but their new stuff sucks, and Metallica is compiled of a few dbags that yell into a microphone. Besides that, the lead singer's name is Lars man. L-A-R-S. HEY LARS WOULD YOU LIKE A CUP OF TEA? HUIHHH??? Its not badass like SLash or something.

This is the biggest difference between consumers and music lovers. Consumers follow the simple principle "you're only as good as your last publication" whereas people who truly appreciate music can see past this. Never underestimate the power of ignorance, and remember that no matter what, it's all subjective anyway so getting angry about it solves nothing. That being said, everything pre black was awesome, everything post has sucked.

I love the Black album too.
The rest afterwards are good, but just not "great" like the early ones.
This is coming from someone who just recently discovered Metallica (3-4 yrs ago, now 22 years old). And went backwards as far as listening to the timeline. I thought the newer albums (especially S&M) were fantastic, and then I finally got the old ones. It was a bit of a shock, and at first it was weird for me, and then I discovered how good they were.
I love Unforgiven too.

The first song I ever heard was Seek and Destroy. I went out and bought Kill 'Em All and The Black album the next day.
I bought Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets a few days later.

Edit: Metallica kicks ass. I don't care for Lars and the whole napster thing, which is a main reason why a bunch of losers/noobies hate them.
Music is Music, as long as you write it yourself. Bands that get there sh!t generically written (Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, N*SYNC) suck. Note that LP and LB started out writing their own stuff, and their first albums are both pretty good, after that, STRAIGHT DOWN HILL.
