From Mac OS Rumors:
<< Several sources who have provided spot-on reports about prototype Macs (including the original
iMac, the first iBook, and the PowerMac G4) are now reporting that proof-of-concept PowerMacs
with developmental G5-class PowerPC processors from Motorola have been demonstrated to at
least two of Apple's strategic partners.
The enclosures, motherboards, and components are all based on Apple's UMA-2 chipset -- which
will ship with next-generation PowerMac G4s later this year -- sporting up to 200MHz Double
Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM memory, 8X AGP graphics bus, 800Mbps Firewire, and an ATA-100
IDE storage bus. These features have been seen in prototypes for over a year, however with the
exception of 8X AGP, which is a much more recent development and probably won't be seen in
shipping Macs until some time in 2002)....the big surprise is the reports that a functional PowerPC
7500 (G5) prototype chip is being tested in these latest prototypes. >>
According to the article, they're running at 1333 Mhz now and are expected at 2Ghz +.
