Received this one big a$$ packet, open it, found a $2 bill. They wanted me to fill out a LONG survey... 233 questions.

Should I just keep the cash and toss the survey?

edit: Ok, so I don't open my mail on the day I get them. I usually just put them in a pile and go through them once a week.

I've received these in the past. This is a common practice among more honest survey groups. Answer the survey if you think you qualify as an intended subject. If you don't think you're part of their intended market, ignore it. Right or wrong, they picked you, and you took the time to evaluate whether you should reply, so enjoy the couple of bucks. :)

<< man, that marketing team should be fired... >>

I suspect their reasoning is many people will feel obligated to fill it out.

After all, you have their $2 don't you?

Toss the survey, mail it back blank, whatever suits your fancy.

But keep the $2.

I'd keep the cash and fill out the survey.. 2 bucks and all I need to do is fill out a survey and mail it? Fine, no problem. If they're willing to take a chance on you being an honest person why not just be honest?

<< 233 questions? That's not worth $2. Keep it. >>

That's how I feel. If it was ~20 questions, I would fill it out, but 233? Forget it, it would take an hour just to read it.

$2???

I've received a couple $50 checks for doing a 20 minute survey over the phone. Nothing like getting paid $150 an hour to answer questions :)

JD Power does that too. How it works I think is if you fill out the survey, they'll send you more in the future along with more crisp dollar bills.

Yes
26 (votes) 100.00 (%)
No
0 (votes) 0.00 (%)

:)

I guess it's clear what I should do.

Keep the cash.

Now for the decision. If you toss the survey, then you don't take any time. If you fill out the survey, you spend your valuable time but new products will be made that are more tailored to your tastes and things you dislike will be less likely to be sold.

Basically, if you want your desires to be fullfilled by a company, you need to let them know what your desires are. I enjoy filling out surveys, taking polls, etc. What I'm really after is being selected as a Nielson family. Imagine being able to select what shows on TV are cancelled. :) All for just a few minutes of my time...

I think a better question to ask is:

Who the hell in the United States gets mail on Sunday?

just two dollars?

My rate goes for 10cents per each multiple choice answer and $1 for each written answer.

I'd just keep the $2 as your junk mail opening fee.
