just upgraded from office 2000 to office 2003 pro and started outlook 2003. yuck!! i hate it!

is there a way to make it look like 2000? or is it time to switch to another program?

my inbox messages are separated by a line, like a row in Excel.
my folders area looks like the orignal outlook tasks bar or whatever. i don't want it to show that crap.

recommend me some other FREE, minimalist, but good/cool email programs.

EDIT: OK, THIS IS FOR ALL YOU MORONS WHO CAN'T READ BEYOND THE 1ST POST. I ALREADY TRIED THE HELP AND MESSING AROUND WITH THE PROGRAM. SPENT LIKE AN HOUR MESSING WITH IT. STILL CAN'T GET IT THE WAY I WANT IT.

ok, been messing with thunderbird.

is there a way to arrange all the folders in alphabetical order? right now, inbox, unsent, trash, etc are at the top, then my user created folders are at the bottom in order. i want inbox and whatever to be in order with the others

I prefer Thunderbird 1.5 for personal use (unless for some reason you need to connect to Exchange servers), this coming from a pretty reliable Microsoft bigot.

Eudora is okay for single accounts, but forget about its stupid ass personalities crap for multiple accounts.

All you need to do is learn how to tweak Outlook 2003. :)

1) view > reading pane > bottom or off
2) view > navigation pane or there is a configure buttons option at the bottom

fvck you. its an oem version that i got for free. no manual. the help is about worthless.
i got it pretty much how i like it but there's still a few things that i can't figure out or can't get it to do.

like the navigation pane. i want to just show the folders, not all that extra crap, but no matter how i do it, there's always still this small section at the bottom.

I used Notes once. It wasn't too bad after the initial shock of being in a corporate environment and not using Outlook/Exchange. It definitely had some different ideas, like it was based on old, out-of-style concepts but they weren't necessarily bad, just different.

The RTFM was only if you couldn't figure it out. I didn't actually think you would have to.

Down in the very bottom of the navigation pane there is a little button that has a couple >> and a down arrow on it. Click that and you'll see "Navigation Pane Options". You can remove everything you don't want.

That OEM version sposed to be sold with a computer by chance?

i did find that part on the av pane but it doesn't totally get rid of the nav pain. i just want to see the folder list and contacts like it used to be in outlook 2000.

Simmer down nublet. Googling your Office 03 problems leads to a wealth of information. You don't need the actual hard manual.

Yes, you did. You asked for "other FREE" software (keyword "other"), which implies that Outlook is free. You're being pretty hostile in this thread.
