OMG is HDTV orgasmic!

GoingUp

Lifer
Just got done installing my first HD plasma over my fireplace. DVDs look incredible, and HDTV just blows me away.

Now I just gotta learn how to use all of the menus and properly calibrate everything. Other than that, I love it, love it, love it.

BTW, for those of you wondering I got the new Panasonic 50PX60U 50" plasma.

I download my TV shows so I never saw one in HD before. But I can patiently wait until I can download them in HD. 🙂

For color calibration, either get The AVIA Guide to Home Theater or see what people doing with theirs at AVSForum.com

I have a THX test on my finding Nemo DVD, but I also dont seem to have a contrast option in my picture menu.

I havent RTFM yet, so I will have to look into it tomm.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. I noticed a lot of image compression though. It might have been a poor signal though.

what source?

If it is satellite, you were practically guarenteed to see it in the past, and I haven't heard of many improvements ince then. If anything, their traffic has increased and their bandwidth has stayed the same. That said, DISH might be better than Direct TV since they aquired VOOM and their dedicated HD satellite.

For the most part, I've heard that cable providers, since most use fiber, have fewer compression/artifact issues.

Make sure to turn the picture mode off "Vivid" it really ruins details.

Contrast controls appear when you change the picture mode to custom I believe

HD tv shows can be downloaded if you know where to look. 😉

::Looks at sig:: I guarantee it's "orgasmic" too 😉

my dvds look bad on our philips 37" LCD HDTV. its connected via component and the tv does say its in 480p. are all dvds 480p? my analog tv displayed dvds MUCH better. on the hdtv, all the colors look washed out and pinkish...any idea whats wrong? or is it just the analog-digital thing?

🙁 Nothing on Torrents. Best I found there was 480p, which isn't bad but not officially HD.

I got rid of Vivid, but I didnt see a custom mode, only vivid, cinema and standard. I gotta read the manual.
