I love my work, I really do, but some of the stuff they send me in email is classic. I just got this today.

There's a new mass mailer worm (aka "virus") in the wild, known as "Fizzer". We have updated virus definitions on the mail servers and we think our infrastructure is well-protected.

This is *not* a call for widespread panic, just a reminder that attachments may be particularly dangerous right now. You might want to ensure your home computers are protected by updating virus definitions there, as well.

Symantec's writeup of the virus is here:
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.hllw.fizzer@mm.html

Did he say virus? Did he say PANIC?!? OMG we're all gonna DIE!!!!!!!

<-- runs aroung cube screaming about the end of the world.

Oh, wait. Don't panic. I get it.

My senior manager at work sent this out:

Dear All,

BIGGGG TROUBLE !!!! DO NOT OPEN "WTC Survivor"
It is a virus that will erase your whole "C" drive. It will come to you in the form of an E-Mail from a familiar person.
I repeat a friend sent it to me, but called and warned me before I opened it.
He was not so lucky and now he can't even start his computer!
Forward this to everyone in your address book. I would rather receive this 25 times than not at all.

If you receive an email called "WTC Survivor" do not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries (.dll files) from your computer.

I replied to him with this.
