OMG, iRiver > *

Lifer
I just got my iRiver iHP-140, and it is so sweet.
It looks great, IMO, it comes with a case that allows access to buttons (unlike Creative Touch, apparently, and it comes with a case, unlike the iPod, AFAIK).

It came ready to copy files onto, I needed to do nothing other than plug it in, and drag and drop.
It has a shuffle mode.
EQ options are great, menu is easy to use, I managed to work out pretty much everything there is to do and how to do it without reading the manual.

This player is great, easy to use, looks nice, nothing more you could want.

(I had a minidisc player before, I can't stand having to install crappy programs, and Sony made it worse by focing you to convert to ATRAC, messing up quality of files even more than just mp3/wma does 🙁)

I loved MD. Well, the tech behind it before this mp3 fad. Still great for recording live music though, certain models anyway. But regardless, sonicstage is the biggest POS software I've ever used. And you know what? Sony is too stuck up their behinds to see it. Their latest HD player is surprisingly very lightweight. Didn't get to play w/ the interface though, but since it can't natively play mp3s, it's just a whole lot of marketing money down the drain... at least for the US.

Sony's as bad as apple. I'll never buy another of their products.

1. I still have a Sony netMD player that I used to use. For $89, it couldn't be beat. Yes, I know the software was buggy and painfully unresponsive, but all in all, if all you were doing was using to it catalog your mp3's and wma's. Waiting the 5 minutes or so to have it automatically convert them on-the-fly was definitely annoying but not life-threatening. In the end, for $89, I couldn't have asked for more.

I've never had a Sony product last longer than a year. Even if their products weren't of terrible quality and overpriced to boot, their ethics make politicians look angelic.

Regardless of whether or not I agree with you, I must comment that you seem to LOVE to write stuff for the sake of writing anything, don't you? ( not that i don't either sometimes😱 )

EDIT: By all acounts I could choose to comment that I have dropped the minidisc onto solid concrete from about 5ft up on VARIOUS ocassions, which I have, and that it still works really well. Basically, subjectivity is just that, subjective.

Either way, this argument has no plausible conclusion. Just stop bashing everything and keep it to your self. You must realize that your bitter posts only serve to create more biterness. Your blanket statements only force people like me, who hate seeing people post such statements that dare for refution. No one needs to be reminded that Sony might be, for all intents and purpsoes, pure evil, and it only serves to create antagonism.

Did you ever stop and think about how a POS $89 MD player was all someone could afford (in my case), after school and books? Hell I couldn't afford to buy cds and stuff to put on it for awhile. Was I poor? No, but it pains me to see someone publically insult my stuff, in crude fashion mind you.

Just go away man. There is a big difference between constructive criticism, helpful advice, and the sh!t you spew.

remember: there is a wrong way and a right way to say what you said. You said and almost always say it the wrong way, with notable exception.

Down boy!

And I experienced their ethics (lack thereof, rather) firsthand as I watched them ruin a pretty good MMORPG through incompetence and greed.

So the iriver 140 is plug and play? I was choosing this weekend between the 790 and the Creative Muvo TX FM, and people were saying the Iriver required software to transfer, taking away from that whole portable hd thing.

Either Iriver made their products different, or I guess the guy was wrong.

Either way, The Creative Muvo TX FM is great. Got it for 100, and I picked up a charger and some 850mah AAA nimh's.

Afaik only the iPods and iRivers are plug & play hard drives (on any OS), though you can't just drag & drop mp3s to the iPod and play them - you have to go through iTunes or a 3rd party app for that, or get hacked firmware. A few other players will hold files, but only after you've installed their proprietary software on the computer you want to transfer to/from.

As I was the one who made the correction in that thread, I understood the context.

Dry humor can be difficult on the intraweb, unfortunately (because, as shown by the statement regarding Ichiro, it was confirmed that you now love iPods but have since changed back again).

Well, my Creative, at least the Muvo TX FM is also plug and play. I plugged it in, no software or anything, and it showed up as a portable HD. I dragged some songs in, and it played.

Good to hear, I just ordered the TX FM this afternoon. I just couldn't bring myself to spend $200-$300 for something I'm just going to use for the gym and running.
