Bought a full US Retail Ver. on eBay for $18. Installed Last Thursday, and OMG I can't stop playing. If this is heaven, then who the hell needs Half-Life 2! I really can't fathom how Valve is going to make any game as visually stunning as FarCry. Maybe they'll get lucky and match the visual quality?

Well right now I'm getting REALLY Lucky in the Tree House level. About twice now in the game, hell I would just run all the way AROUND a objective or compound and probably save myself 1/2 the time to take out folks. If ya don't need to kill EVERYONE on every level, save some hassle:thumbsup:

You know when you overclock your Vid card, you must really, really like the Game!!

Today I played for 5 hours, now I'm getting ready to play again........

Where will it end.........

Just finished playing last night...awesome game...warning...the last level of the game is freaking harder than any last level of any FPS I've ever played

Whole second half of the game is rather difficult, really. There were parts toward the end that took me 20, 30, 50 tries to beat on the second easiest of five difficulty settings. I'm no frag king, but I'm a decent player.

They're simply different. Doom 3 and HL2 are really about multiple-player experience. Most ppl play online or on LANs against each other. multiple-player is way more fun than single player.

I'm glad you hope that you're wrong, because you will be . If neither HL2 nor D3 are better than FarCry, then developers have all taken a step back. The original half-life was way more engrossing than FarCry and Id is known for engines that actually run decent, unlike Farcry

Disagree, single player is where it's at for me. Multiplayer FPSs are like babysitting, except with exceptionally annoying kids, and without the pay.

Gotta disagree here too. I found Far Cry to be as good as HL1, if not better. High resource needs are a natural requirement when you have such gorgeous image quality, it's to be expected and not surprising. That said, I can play in 10x7 with all details set to very high on my 2 year old 4600, which looks stunning (imo better than 12x10 with settings on medium, which is my other option) - I'd say that's more than reasonable. We can't speak for either game yet, of course, but I have a sinking feeling HL2 is going to suck it. When it comes out. In the year 2158. I'm looking forward to doom3, but could take it or leave it tbh. Far Cry satiated that thirst for great gaming for me, and then some. Can't say enough good things about this game.

I definitely agree that this game was addicting. I probably beat it faster than any other game I have ever played (2-3 weeks...I don't play too often). There were definitely a couple of weekend days that I spent a good 4+ hours playing...and that is a lot for me.

The graphics were beautiful in comparison to what I am used to seeing and the overall gameplay was great.

All of that being said, the story was pathetic. I had no interest in knowing what happened next...just disappointed when there was nothing left for me to kill.

In terms of HL2 and Doom3:

1. I would definitely say that I remember a much more "immersive experience" with HL1 and I am expecting this of HL2. We'll have to wait and see though.

2. Seeing the videos from Doom3, I think it will be much more scary and will have much more detailed/interactive indoor environments.

Outdoor environments is where Far Cry really shines...and I don't think Doom3 or HL2 will trump them on that. As for gameplay mechanics...we'll have to wait and see.
