OMG I'm going to see F16s tomorrow.

My friend's husband is an F16 mechanic at March ARB in CA. Yay I get to visit tomorrow 🙂 Surprisingly you can bring a camera on base, you just can't take photos of the interior of the aircraft. Hopefully I'll get some good pics for you chumps.

UPDATE: It was a great visit. Security was tight of course, they checked my car insurance and registration before I was allowed on the base. I followed my buddy's car over to parking then we took his car to the flight line area. Once you enter the flight area you have to stop your vehicle and check the tires for foreign objects so nothing gets sucked into jet engines.

Pretty small operation as far as the Falcons go. There are only 4 there, it's mostly a base for a refueling wing and an airlift wing.

We spent about an hour in the hangars, 2 Falcons were armed each with 2 AIM9's and 2 120's, plus 2 drop tanks. They can be off the ground in less than 10 minutes if needed.

Then we went into the housing area and I got to talk to a pilot for an hour. What a treat, he was telling me about his experiences over Iraq before the 2nd war started.

I only took a few pics but here they are.

I wouldn't think the interior of an F-16C was still classified. Some of the radar modes are, but you shouldn't be anywhere near the aircraft while it's radiating anyway.

I live 10 minutes from the USAF Museum, so I get to visit the planes any time I want. Plus, every now and then my dad takes me on base when the east coast evacs their bases due to hurricanes. There'll be squadron after squadron of F/A-18, F-16, and F-15s on the flight line.

Be aware they probably won't let you take pics of the jets on the flight line, and they may take your camera if you do.

I'll only shoot what they say is ok, I don't want to get myself or my new friend in trouble of course.

<--off to review the Falcon 4.0 SuperPak docs 😉

Standing in my yard, I can v iew most every current fighter on the flightline.

Right under the approach path at Nellis.
