I hope you didn't already have a colleciton of Magic cards before you got into this. Otherwise you might be a re-re.

I enjoy Magic too, but I've been collecting for 10+ years now. If you think I'm going to start collecting all over with cards that only exist on a server you are very much mistaken.

Man, I wish Wizards had some way to dole out online cards based on what you've already collected in real life.

I haven't paid any money yet. Though I'm really thinking about buying one of their viritual decks for $10 and getting on their paid servers.

Erm, wait, there's a way to play without paying money for cards? 'cause that's f%$#ing news to me.

Of course I imagine everyone on those servers has 4 of every one of the Power 9, 30 Force of Wills, etc. etc....

Ew.

Yeah, f%$# that. Until Wizards offers some sort of "send us your cards, we'll scan them in and send them back to you" deal I'm not getting in on it. I've got way too many old cards to start collecting again.

The pay version only has cards from Invasion and onwards, so no Power 9.

There are free ways to play online Magic Workstation, but they don't enforce the rules.

The best part about playing online is that it is easy to find opponents to play against, any time of the day.

Hrm, I'll check that out. I've got a severe lack of opponents here in Carson, as the only store selling cards shut down and the weekly "Magic Meeting" was disbanded years ago. Not to mention that it had become almost exclusively Type 2 before then. Sorry guys, I'm not going to buy several hundered dollars in brand new cards every 2 months just so I can keep up.

Now if I could use that to help in selling my cards, that would be sweet! :D

I was all like isnt that for 8 year olds and he was like no, I see older people at the tounaments... He says this while watching the cartoon (Oh, excuse me... anime) he get's upset when I call it a cartoon....

Yugioh has some interesting dynamics. It was supposed to be marketed for kids but some older gamers picked up on the fact that the way the cards play can be pretty advanced. Unfortunately it's still kind of childish. The cartoon especially.

Magic is one of those games that just hooks you, no particular reason why. It's just fun with a lot of room for creativity, yet with standards and rules.

Well, while it isn't quite what you want, I'm pretty sure there's a program where you can convert real cards to online cards and vice versa for all cards in the series they use. Granted, that doesn't help you since you have the old cards, but the new ones will convert (at least thats what they were promoting while I beta tested the thing). Beta testing MTG: Online was hella fun. You could buy like 4 decks and 20 starters every day so you could make uber decks =P. Made a squirrel counter multiplier deck and ended up crashing the game when I made over a thousand 2000/2000 squirrels :p
