Lol, I was just on the radio!

So I'm driving home from school and one of the big local radio stations Q102 has a nightly talk show.

This lady is the host: Holly Morgan

Anyway, so this 18 year old kid Tony calls in and says he wants to join the Army. His friends and family are against because they think he is joining the Army for the wrong reasons. He wants to join because it "build character" and will "pay for my college". He said his friends and family will support him with whatever he does, he just wants to get some positive feedback because he is going to go sign up tomorrow no matter what. I never ever listen to the radio because I have an MP3 CD player. Because I'm selling my Civic, I took it out a couple days ago and I've been listening to the radio... so the lady asks for a caller and I thought, what the hell, I'll call into the radio for the 1st time in my life. I get on there and say basically this "Hey Holly... I just wanted say that Tony is obviously not 100% sure he wants to join the military if he is seeking confirmation from the radio. Before he signs his life away tomorrow, he should consider all of his options. ROTC is training he can take while he is in college, and after 4 years of school he will have his college degree AND be an officer in the military, but must stay in for 4 to 6 years afterwards. My father was a LRP Ranger in Vietnam and he strongly recommends service for character building, but recommends joining for the right reasons: to serve your country. If Tony just wants to 'build character' and get his 'school paid for' he has some other options." It came on about 5 minutes after I talked to Holly on the phone.... then another caller came in after another song and was like "I strongly agree with the first caller, it's good you want to join the Army, but you need to think before you just sign away." Pretty cool, never thought calling in the radio was that easy. Any of you been on it before?

Jerk! Don't steal my thunder! =)

I was on the radio once. It was back in '97 I think, and my words were, "Hey Drew, can you put "Lucky" by Seven Mary Three on this morning? Thanks!"

I was talking about it for days...then again, I was only 13. :)

I once called a love-song request-line.. I asked them to play LEN - Steal my Sunshine cuz it reminded me of my at-the-time girlfriend and the dude got all pissed off and said "We dont play LEN"..... So i stole my best friend's (who was in the car with me) song between him and his g/f. Phil Collins - You'll Be in my Heart... I got punched in the arm because of it but it was VERY funny.

I worked for a radio station for several years in high school and early college. So, yeah, I've been on the air a few times. ;)

Yep. Called in and won tickets to a concert on PXY in Rochester, was recorded and they played it about 10 minutes later. Tix were to the state fair - I forgot who was headlining, but I think 98 degrees opened the show. It was a very cool show too, my wife enjoyed that.

dido. I had the "All Request Drive at Five" I quit to become an accountant though... Seems the pay for DJ's is not very high, unless you are major market.
