OMG!! I killed 2 birds today while driving to work

I was driving to work, minding my own business, when all of a sudden 2 birds flew right into my car's grill. :Q

They were 2 male English sparrows obviously having a dispute. Being spring and all, I figure it had to do with territory for nesting. Anyway, they were so caught up in their fight they flew right into my car's grill. I guess that ended that dispute for good.

I feel a little sad now that I killed 2 birds. 🙁

I am not fond of killing animals, even by accident.

I thought I would share this with ATOT.

I have seen that species courting behaviour and their male dispute behaviour lots of times. What I saw remembled the latter rather than the former.
 
I hit birds by accident before but I felt much worse when my neighbor's cat was sleeping on my engine until I started it up 😱

I ran over a family of Quail the other day. Well actually about 5 of the 10 or so chicks and the mother. Couldn't be helped though, they were in the road on the other side of a blind bend. I didn't even have time to hit the brake pedal.
 
I hit birds all the time! At least 3 a year, I think they like the red paint on my truck for some odd reason.

The last one I hit on I-10 going about 80 - 85 (speed limit is 75 here). Left a big greasy smear up the windshield about the size of a tennis ball. Scare the bjesus out of me too!

Kind of gross, but pretty funny at the same time. Nothing but a cloud of feathers in the rear-view!:laugh:
 
happen to me too, not today, yesterday... don't know what kind of birds, but 2 flew accross the road and my truck's grill met them at 30mph.

i thought we had a pact.
 
I hit a few pigeons going down hill w/ my car(s) before. They bounce 10-20 ft and drops death, then the crows comes in and finish them off.
 
Kitty Nipples killed two birds, a mole, and a couple baby bats in the last two days and he doesn't seem to be emotionally affected at all.
I did notice he was getting a little itchy. He's probably jonesing for another baby kitten.
 
Some other animal will use the meat to feed it's young. By killing these two, you may have saved the life of some others.
