Stop the q-tip when you meet resistance, that's all I have to say. :D

sux0rs if you get swimmers ear! Are you a scuba diver, you can try some of the ear clearing motions to try to get it out.... it might just come out in your sleep or something.

Hate the feeling though!

okay. this only works if you do this in the living room while people are watching tv.

get a vacuum and plug it in. if you can, put in the hose and the best accessory you got, and stick it next to your ear. then turn on the vacuum. when the water is out, turn off the vacuum and post your results. pics!

Ok, I heard this can be bad for your ear... but it works. Tilt your head and pour a capful of hydrogen peroxide in your ear. It *will* get the water out.

I guess only use it as a last resort. :)

Or a capful of alcohol. Either rubbing alcohol or H202 will work. It is better than leaving water in your ear. Trust me.

Hmm, i wonder if i actually got the water out...or if it's just the sweat from around my ears.... I'm plungering myself over here. And are you guys serious? Hydrogen peroxide IN the ear? :Q

AHHHHHHHHHH OMG DO NOT DO THE HYDROGEN PEROXIDE THING!

A neighbor of mine had to go to the hospital cuz some jackass told him to do that! Apparently if the hydrogen peroxide happens to pass the ear blockage, it can SERIOUSLY damage the ear drum...

maybe my friend was just some weird freak and it was a coincidence that he did that right before he got massive ear aches, I dunno. He claims the doc said not to do that...I dunno how trustworthy he is, but why would he lie about that...I dunno

if it doesnt work at ifrst... keep jumping...

it works tell me how it goes!

Whatever you do, do not attempt to remove the earwax or disturb it. The earwax is the only natural way to remove the water. How? It causes water to bead and run out and away from the ear canal. Zakath15's advice is on the mark. Don't use Q-Tip(R) to remove the water or you will impact your ear with excess wax and trap that water in there for a long time. Allow it to naturally dissolve (the heat in the body will cause it to evaporate shortly in most cases) or encourage it by titling your head forward and to the side until the water washes out (if possible). If it continues for more than an hour, seek professional medical attention.

P.S. Earwax is completely clean. It is not dirty. Your body makes earwax to protect you from bacteria/infections, and to prevent water or moisture from remaining in your ear canal. Hydrogen Peroxide can cause severe sweeling and inflammation in the ear, especially if the wax is not present. NEVER put anything in your ear, even ear drops.

<< and you dont need to do anything stupid >>

Haha, don't need to do anything stupid my ass!! :p But it didn't work.

OK, i think the water's in the process of doing something with my earwax, cus i think i feel something expanding up in there...

Ha, PHiuR beat me to it. Jump on one leg (same side as ear), with ear opening toward floor. Hop around on that one leg.

When i was a kid, we would mix vinager and alcohol together to get water out. Alchol to displace, and the vinager supposedly does something with the pH, i can;t remember.

About hydrogen-peroxide, it destroys any open tissue, like a cut, or mucus membranes. I don't know how it would react to the eardrum, but i wouldn;t want to find out for the sake of us ATOTers.

If you don't have it out by now, I'd say its probably to just water. Its an earwig most likely (an insect, do a search). They like to crawl in people's ears, usually while the host is sleeping, but because they like moist areas, they sometimes hide in faucets and shower nozzles. Better get it out, or it will lay eggs in there.

I was just kidding, of course. Earwigs don't really go in your ear. They mostly just hang around in my woodpile, looking gross. Sorry. Hope you got the water out.

I grew up in Florida and spent most every day of my youth in the water. After getting swimmer's ear for the second time, (it hurts very bad) the doctor told me mix vinegar and alcohol and put a couple of drops in each ear every day after dinner. Lay on your side and fill your ear up with rubbing alcohol, then stay on that side for 5 or 10 minutes. Lay on the couch and watch Tv. Then, roll over, and do the same for the next ear.

the vinegar helped kill the germs that give you swimmer's ear and the alcohol dried out the water. Many, many times I would go home with my ears full of water. This worked every time!

Trust me on this one!!!!

Turn your head so the clogged ear faces up. Wait a little but and blow your nose. The water should drain out of your ear. (Works for me, no guarantees it'll work for you though) :/
