Ok, I know this is my own fault and a total idiot move on my part.

I go to www.imbuddy.net or something to get a buddy icon for aim. Well, it says, OH, you must download this executable to automatically assign the icon to your buddy list.

My dumbass said, "OK!" and then it started 2 install setups, and wouldn't you know in a matter of 60 seconds I have over 7 spyware programs installed.

I just spent the last 90 minutes running Spybot & Ad-Aware, on top of spyware removal tools.

I did however discover WinFast v5.0 is a nice program for the overly paranoid (such as myself) to monitor all executables loaded into memory.

/rant

Oh, and now the windows security shield won't sit in the icon tray anymore.........

You still have that godawful Windows security center crap turned on? All it does is annoy you for doing anything non-enduserish.

Oh, and I billed for 6 hours for running Ad-Aware before. SIX HOURS. And it was a house call. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Another funny thing I discovered is that Norton Anti-Virus and all its utilities makes my PC just as slow with all the adware, and spyware.

I thought that was kind of funny.

hahaha, your an idiot for installing... and use AVG 7.0 instead of norton.. its legally free too. Norton sucks just because it slows you down.

I have a dl to it on my site.

People are pretty pathetic if they cant figure out Adaware or something similar. I just pointed both of my computer-slow parents at a download link and both of them got it running just fine.

Yeah I dropped about two hours on it a month ago. You can see my fury in the software forum if you care. It took me a good while to undo it, but my thread listed all the progs that you need to nip this sh*t in the ass.

People just don't know what they are doing most of the time.

It usually takes one visit to straighten everything out and prevent it from happening again.

I was using FireFox, but it would never load my gmail correctly and did not work with gmail notify.

Or else I probably would still have it.

I use firefox with gmail and gmail notify (gmail notify has nothing to do with the browser though, unless you're talking about the firefox plugin), works fine. What problem are you having?
