OMG I hate PayPal

Not going to give you the whole long story, but the bottom line is PayPal disput resolution center sucks balls.
They NEVER use any freaking logic in their descision making and all they care about is the easy way out of a resolution.
Yea maybe I accidentally gave them 4 out of the 20 delivery confirmation numbers wrong, but damnit why would I do that intentionally? Why don't they just contact me back for perhaps a mistake on my part? Instead they went ahead and just gave the buyer back their money $600+, because of a wrong delivery confirmation number. Also why can't their measly brains figure out that USPS Priority Mail does not get delivered always in 1 or 2 days??? Atleast post-pone the descision until the package gets delivered (Most likely will be tomorrow).

Also their automated phone system completed sucks. 3 out of 4 times when I say dispute it replies with GOODBYE and cuts off. I DID NOT SAY GOODBYE I SAID freaking dispute. Anyways after the 4th time calling back the stupid 888 number it got it right and then I bitched out the representative.
(I don't have an accent at all. No Northen, Southern, Russian, Chinese, European, or any other accent.)

Edit for more bad news by PayPal:
O yea this morning I received an email from PayPal.
It was for another dispute I have with a buyer.
Short Summary:
Buyer bought my lappy and sent me money. I shipped out the lappy the next day and that same day PayPal flagged the payment saying the buyer's payment is being investigated and the funds I just received will be held. Fair enough.
That was on Dec 7th, but now it is Jan 17 and I just got the email stating:
"For your information, we were charged a settlement fee and we have debited
your PayPal account to pay for this fee. This action was taken in
accordance with the terms of the PayPal User Agreement."

So I had to PAY the stupid settlement fees when it was clearly not my fault at all. It was the buyer's fault for using the fake credit card. I don't understand why I have to pay the stupid fees! Using logic if the buyer had to pay fees, then PayPal will never get the settlement fees. It is not my problem though. (I think the settlement fee is $15, but i'm not sure and too mad to check now.)

I should get it back after the buyer receives the package. But I will still need to work to get it as I will then have to email appeal@paypal.com showing it has been delivered. This is assuming the buyer accepts the package.

And what is your merchant account alternative to Paypal?

edit: always transfer money asap to your bank account

Well now that you learned your lesson the hard way STOP using them, I hate them and stopped using them years ago.

I use MO only!

FTW, if someone tries to dick you around then its called mail fraud 😀

Yes you guys are right saying don't use CrapPal, but you get a lot more money when you do offer PayPal. I have offered Bidpay, but less than 1% of the people want to use Bidpay. Also they want the item fast so MO isn't an option for them. I wish the google rumor was true. The one where google was going to compete against PayPal.
Kinda like I "have" to use Windows instead of Linux, because it is currently the most compatible with everything I need. Even though I really hate it I have to use it.
(Formatted my hard drive and installed a fresh new Windows XP Pro. 1 day later when I open I.E. it popped up some error and said it had to close I.E. I don't know what I did, but all I wanted to do was open I.E. and it couldn't even do that properly even with the fresh install of Windows. Windows is crap, but like PayPal it has a lot of benefits I need.)

PayPals front page says that they offer protection for sellers, but in truth, they don't offer jack ******.

Im in your boat, I'd not use them if there was something better and more widely used, but there is nothing as convinient.

The problem is that Paypal offers no protection to anyone who is honest. A scammer will have the money out of their account before Paypal resolves anything. Someone like the OP gets screwed because they will not be trying to scam anyone.

Trikat I know 100% what your saying! Its a hard choice especially if you sell a lot of stuff. Myself for example on e-bay I refuse to support PayPal by bidding on users account that accepts PayPal only. Ive lived without Paypal for 5 years and have always been able to buy or sell anything by MO and dont mind waiting a few extra days. PayPal has ripped me off in the past, they have poor customer service and will lie and I refuss to support them. However they have so many people that use them one person wont hurt them. However as people have deals go bad and look for PayPal to back them up will they find out how they treat there customers.

Good Luck!

PayPal Sucks

Add yourself to the growing number of PayPal victims.

As a buying tool, PayPal is VERY SAFE if you use your credit card to fund the purchase. Why? Because you can always initiate a credit card chargeback and get your money in any case where you are being defrauded.

As a selling tool, PayPal provides ZERO protection. You are at the mercy of your customer, and PayPal, when you use their service to receive payments. If a customer tries to defraud you, you will only be protected IF PayPal decides to go to bat on your behalf. More likely, they will refund the buyer at the first hint of a chargeback and make you eat the loss.

Remember, PayPal is not a bank. They can freeze your account and any money in it for 6 months at any time, without any good reason.

I had a buyer scam me through PayPal about a year back and since then I haven't used their service to receive payments at all. The only reason rubbish like PayPal hasn't been boycotted at large is because of the HUGE conflict of interest presented by eBay's ownership of the company.

In all fairness, they do not have to call you for anything. It is your responsibility to provide accurate information, it is not PP's responsibility to verify it. I do not know the whole story, but looks like there was a shipment delay on your part. If your item(s) have been delivered, contact PP and you'll get your money back.

Getting screwed by Paypal is just a cost of doing business. Everyone knows there's a decent chance of getting screwed, but they want the higher bids you get by taking Paypal on ebay.

Can't have it both ways, but the choice is yours.

i take the money and run like a mofo everytime i make a sale, even before i ship it. i heard they charge to your linked bank account if theres no cash on your paypal in the event of a chargeback, but i do the next best thing, leave no money at the linked account unless necessary.

They'll get money from you on way or the other. If you have it linked to a CC, they'll charge it. If not, they'll refer you to a collection agency and will report you to a credit bureau.

i dunno sounds like the OP screwed up here more than paypal...like said its your responsibility to put in tracking ID properly, your responsibility to send a proper product. I think if i was the buyer in this case (the guy on the other end) I'm pretty damn satisfied with paypal for getting my $$$ back from some jerkoff that tried to scam me out of $600 and tried to cheat his way out by providing an invalid tracking number.

I've gone through paypal resolution center 3 times now, each time to a very satisfactory conclusion.

just my 2cents 😛

I hear there are more and more buyers now that buy stuff, receive it, say they don't, and do chargebacks. One more reason to not use paypal. I quit offering PP in my auctions when they required you to have a premier account to offer it to buyers. I still have people that don't read the listing and after winning ask what my PP ID is so they can pay, and some refuse to pay when they find out I dont take PP. Ebay is so screwed up now in so many ways.

I sure wish Google would come through with their payment system.

I remember when someone here named PaypalDamon used to respond and defend Paypal on every "Paypal sucks" thread. The good old days.

Oh, and you're taking your chances with Paypal.

I got shafted by a seller once, and after 2 weeks of investigation, they emailed me and said "after investigating, we have determined the seller was at fault", but they couldn't help me.

Scammers will never get their money if you can provide proof of delivery. It's not that complicated to protect your butt, only ship to confirmed addresses, require signature on delivery, it's that simple.

lol, I hear you Drakkon. If I was the buyer I would be pissed too.
It is just that I gave the buyer the correct delivery confirmation number twice. 🙂
I just happened to screw up and give the dispute PP people the wrong one.

It is very easy to get shafted using pay pal and ebay. ALWAYS use your credit card to buy a big ticket item with paypal. The seller could decide to scam you and send you phone books and if you don't use your CC, your SOL since pay pal only cares that their was a delivery to your house.
