I was doing 77 in a 65 in frickin Broome County in upstate NY. It's notorious for cops on the highway. Well somehow I didn't see the cop when he apparently caught me with the gun, but he made the same U-turn as you describe and just followed me. Followed me for a good half mile before deciding to turn the lights on and stop me. W T F ?! If you're going to stop me, do it. What's the point of tailing me for so long while I'm doing the limit ? Don't fuggin waste my time. It was 12mph and everybody does it because it's an interstate.

ppl speed here all the time. it's a pretty big road. If i pass the light, the speed limit go up to 35. i'm like about 30 feets until the speed limit hit 35 MPH

What does this have to do with me? What do I have to do with any of this? Oh, I see. You are trying to use logical fallacies. As a matter of fact, I do my best to go 25mph in residential areas. I live on a busy road and the limit is 25, yet people routinely do 40. Freaking jerkoffs. One of them even hit me and totaled my car (and theirs). Quit your defending of people who endanger the lives of innocent people. People who drive like idiots should be given tickets and their licence's taken away.
I feel ya I was doing 80 in a 65 (they really should make the speed limit 75) and a camero was coming up behind me. I didn't want to get over right away (slow traffic in the right lane) so I went up to 85 so I wouldn't "hinder" the camaro. Turns out to be a highway patrol camaro with the short, clear light bar. I got over and he went by at about 90...he stopped about a 1/4 mile ahead to help some stranded people on the side of the freeway.

This is why the cop that clocked you tailed you for half a mile and did not stop you immediately:
While he is tailing you, he is calling your license plate info in, and he is telling dispatch that he's going to be stopping you.
He then waits for dispatch's response to tell him:
1. who the registered owner of the car is
2. if the car is reported stolen
3. if the registered owner of the car has any wants or warrants
4. what type and color of car the license plate belongs to (in case of stolen license plates....... i.e. if the plates don't match the car description, he knows something's wrong)
The above is very common practice with all law enforcement, and I doubt he was trying to torture you. The cop wants to know ahead of time who he's dealing with. Then he can either feel comfortable in stopping you, or he can call for backup if he feels he needs it (like if your car was stolen.)
Oh and yes, there are ticket quotas for cops. However, they are smart enough to never put it in writing. It's kind of like peer pressure in that it's real and it's there, but it's definitely not in writing.
